L’Accueil Fraternel, an essential food service offered by the Centre de Bénévolat de Saint-Hyacinthe, plays a key role for vulnerable people in our region, welcoming around 130 visitors every day. Open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., it offers meals and support to those who need it most.
In 2024, Accueil Fraternel undertook major renovations to modernize its facilities, including its kitchen, which is now more functional, safe and adapted to today’s needs. Centraide Richelieu-Yamaska was honoured to support this project by contributing $15,000 towards the acquisition of a freezer room essential to food stock management.
The renovations have created a modern, safe working environment for employees, many of whom come from work reintegration programs. These new spaces offer them the opportunity to acquire transferable skills in other sectors, while contributing to an essential social mission: providing quality food support to those in need.
Mélissa Tremblay, coordinator at Accueil Fraternel, pointed out that these renovations not only modernized the space, but also had a direct impact on the skills acquired by the kitchen staff. She also emphasized the importance of the freezer, which is essential for stock management and ensures employee safety when handling food products.
At Centraide Richelieu-Yamaska, we are proud to support this initiative, which makes a real difference to the lives of vulnerable people. As a committed player in local solidarity, we believe it’s essential to contribute to projects that have a direct impact on people’s lives. This investment testifies to our commitment to fostering a more just and supportive environment, and to supporting an organization that plays a fundamental role in the Maskoutain community.
Many thanks to the entireAccueil Fraternel team for their exceptional work and dedication. Their commitment to the community is truly inspiring.
