In response to the worrying rise of homelessness in several regions of Quebec, Centraide Richelieu-Yamaska is actively committed to addressing this crisis. Thanks to a new Urgent Homelessness Assistance Fund, made possible through a partnership between the Government of Quebec and the Centraide organizations of Quebec, $333,000 will be invested in our territory to support frontline community organizations.
This exceptional fund aims to improve reception conditions, strengthen intervention practices on the ground, and support concrete projects adapted to regional realities. It allows for swift and targeted action to assist the most vulnerable people.
Here are the four organizations in our region that will benefit from this funding:
Centre d’intervention-Jeunesse des Maskoutains (Saint-Hyacinthe) – $112,000
Amount spread over two years (2025 and 2026).
To improve reception conditions.
Centre de femmes Entr’Elles (Granby) – $61,000
To enhance services offered to women experiencing homelessness.
La Porte du Passant (Sorel-Tracy) – $100,000
Amount spread over two years (2025 and 2026).
To develop adapted intervention practices.
La Cellule Jeunes et Familles de Brome-Missisquoi (Cowansville) – $60,000
To strengthen presence on the ground with vulnerable youth and families.
Homelessness takes many forms, often invisible. This fund enables a concrete and rapid response to local needs while strengthening the capacity of community organizations to intervene effectively. This emergency fund is made possible through the collaboration of the Government of Quebec, the Centraide organizations of Quebec, and community partners engaged on the ground. Together, we act to improve living conditions right here, in our communities.
